Bengbu City is located in the northwestern part of Anhui Province, roughly 150 km northwest of Nanjing. Bengbu lies open along the edge of an important river, the Wai river. A railroad connecting Beijing and Shanghai runs through the city and Bengbu continues to develop as a central river transportation base for the province.
The area of the city is 445km2 and its population is 750,000.
